The Asian Energy Dance Hall Society

A number of you follow my blog regularly – maybe some of you have for quite some time. I have no idea how many. How would I possibly know? I do know that fifteen of you – including my Mom – have subscribed to receive posts by email. That number in itself is about 13 more than I ever imagined having. But with RSS and the fact that I get about 100 unique visits per day to the web site, I can guess that the number of regular followers is even much much higher.

So I’ve decided to call you guys (the regulars, that is) The Dance Hall Society.

Some of you sit on Boards of Philippine energy companies. Some of you are in middle management. Some of you are on Wall Street (or Montgomery Street). Some of you are Filipinos struggling to make a living overseas with an interest in the electricity sector here and just trying to keep tabs. I could go on. It’s a diverse group. Some of you are not even, primarily, involved in the energy sector.

What unites us?

I think it’s a strong desire to try to make the electricity sector, here in the Philippines, work better. Because we live here. It impacts our families, our children. And we want to feel good about our work and our life – which means bumping into an electric utility now and then.

I believe this group of regulars is different than the run of the mill professional working in this space.

Why Asian Energy Dance Hall Society?

  1. Because it’s not so much about about me as it is about you. The Society moniker gets the balance more right.
  2. Dance Halls are for dreamers
  3. Dance Halls were about family, romance, and a way of life. And that’s how we, the Society members, approach our work.
  4. Dance Halls are about music! I love music.
  5. One and a half years ago I laid out the key to lowering power costs – and used dance as a metaphor. I love dance.

Here’s to Asian Energy’s Dance Hall Society. Salud!
