Pasig City

I really don’t know what’s up with Pasig City. Read: Pasig loses claim to Meralco tax.

They tried pulling the same Ordinance threat on me sometime around 1999/2000 when Pasig City representatives, accompanied by a uniformed man packing firearms, burst into the offices of Navigant Consulting on the 26th floor of Tektite one morning demanding payment of city taxes!

I was head of the office at the time as Asia Regional Manager. Not only was I unaware of any “claimed” back taxes by Pasig, I was fully aware that the Philippine legislature had passed an Act exempting Regional Headquarters like ours from any local municipal tax assessments.

What in the world were they thinking using such intimidation tactics? They eventually relented a few weeks later, without my having to go to the Supreme Court Court of Appeals.
