Update: The Bulletin removed the article! But here it is the the Google cache.
Myrna Velasco, the diligent energy-beat report for the Bulletin, had an article published today written mainly from STEAG provided information regarding their bidding out a 34% share in their plant. Good information. But it’s late!
Aboitiz has learned to route around the MSM (or go around in parallel) and go directly to the public. Aboitiz published on August 10 that they had won the bidding.
This is not so much about speed, though it is that also, but about a company being able to tell just exactly the story they want to tell, without having it filtered through a third party reporter. It’s about control of the message (although not so much so in this particular instance). And speed.
It’s surely not Myrna’s fault - but the Bulletin’s. They need to re-figure out their role - and being part of the corporate information supply chain may not be the role. Or if it is, it’s to a much different audience than it was before.
On this day..
