Energy Mindanao

Another interesting post by Mike Baños on Mindanao energy issues. And he also refers to some useful ideas by Guido Delgado and David Tauli expressed at a recent forum on “Empowering Consumers Through Responsive Energy Statistics.”

Guido is looking to harness the individual, private gensets around the island to provide coordinated back-up capacity and energy. He says there’s about 500 MW of this stuff.

And there’s scuttlebutt that the Leyte-Mindinano interconnection was essentially scuttled by “vested interests” here and Mike links it back to Alan Ortiz’s departure (apparently Ortiz was advocating the inter-tie).
