Manila — Budget cuts and unfulfilled requests for funding from Malacañang have left the Philippine Energy Regulatory Commission without the vital resources needed to determine how much it owes Meralco for the month of August.
“Our staff knows exactly how much Meralco is charging us in P/kWh for each of the 83 unbundled line items,” Chairman Albano said on Monday. “But the numbers don’t seem to add up – and we can’t find the WESM reduction.”
ERC’s original budget of P7.2 million was intended to purchase new IT resources, replace outdated consultants, and figure exactly how many people it takes to replace a compact fluorescent in Batanes.
