It’s not yet clear what direction my practice it the Philippines is going to take and the role this weblog will play in that.
Certainly, part of my interest is characterized by tmatt at GetReligion. Substitute the word "Philippine energy" for the word "religion" in the following quote.
Our goal, from the beginning, has been to produce a blog for journalists who cover the religion beat or who are interested in writing about religion news as part of their other work in journalism. This is an advocacy site for improved religion coverage in the mainstream press, with our primary emphasis being on accurate hard-news reporting.
The direction Tom Foremski is taking at SiliconValleyWatcher is of interest (along with his business model) and can be combined with the concept above.
Tom’s experience has huge parallels with mine. Next week it will have been exactly six months since I left the comforts of Navigant Consulting, Inc. in Sacramento, the six-figure salary, bonuses, benefits package, and unlimited discretionary time-off (vacation) to become a blogger/consultant based in Davao City focused on the Philippine energy sector.
The contents of my Disclosure Statement pretty much characterizes my current business model. But necessity may become the mother to invention and I may yet seek, with your support, a sustainable business model with corporate and foundation sponsorship that will provide us in the Philippine energy sector – at this crucial time – with a creature more along the lines of the concepts embodied by Tom and tmatt.
