Cluelessness

I’ve successively built a tech start-up before . I have ten years experience in the Philippine energy sector under my belt and way more than that in electric utilities.

But I will admit to being somewhat clueless about building a profitable, independent advisory business focused on the private energy sector in the Philippines. I keep hearing that the sector is not yet ready to sustain such endeavors.

Kathy Sierra, in a mashup of Apple’s Here’s To The Crazy One’s and the Cluetrain Manifesto, wrote this weekend:

Here’s to the Clueless Ones

The ones who see things differently

They’re not fond of rules (granted, that’s because they don’t actually know about the rules)

They have no respect for the status quo (see previous statement)

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.

Maybe they have to be clueless.

- from Kathy Sierra’s Clueless Manifesto

And from Apple Computer:

Here’s to the crazy ones

They invent. They imagine. They heal.

They explore. They create. They inspire.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

Oh, to be truly clueless and crazy.
