Meralco Supreme Court Decision

The Decision handed down February 2 by the Supreme Court nullifying certain ERC rules and voiding a prior rate order allowing Meralco to pass through certain increased power costs to it’s customers is undergoing widespread scrutiny in the sector.

This potentially has lots of important implications well beyond Meralco. And it’s not even clear to me yet that it will be ultimately bad for Meralco.

My understanding is that it has, however, already disrupted the pace or schedule of certain activities at the ERC – I’m just not sure of the total scope of the disruption.

On a side issue, a colleague is questioning how well the Meralco case was argued. We don’t know. We’d like to see.

Update: I’ve converted the Supreme Court’s html file to a pdf here.
