I had a discussion on integrity this week in Manila.
Now, integrity may mean different things in different contexts. Dave Winer set out here two necessary and sufficient rules regarding integrity in public writing.
On this web site, I subscribe to both:
- Disclose pertinent information about your interests.
- Never state as fact something you know not to be true.
Simple. Basic.
Of course, in my business, there’s a third rule: In adhering to the first two, never violate any understandings of confidentiality, whether expressed, implied, or associated with just plain common courtesy.
